The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Monday that 7 Palestinians were killed and 14 others, including medical workers and displaced persons, were killed when Israeli forces opened fire on Nasser Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.

Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said in a statement that Israeli army snipers surrounded the hospital and opened fire on anyone who came into its courtyard, stressing that they killed 7 Palestinians and wounded 14 others. Injured medical staff and displaced people inside the hospital courtyard.

Al-Qudra confirmed that the explosions around the Nasser Medical Complex resulted in the collapse of suspended ceilings in the hospital and operations departments.

He also said that the staff, patients and displaced people at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis have run out of food.

Al-Qudra said that sewage water was flooding the emergency department and hindering the work of staff at the Nasser Medical Complex, and stressed that they had to go to the hospital courtyard to repair the sewage network. There is a need to protect technical staff.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed his deep concern about the situation in and around the Nasser Medical Complex, which has been surrounded by Israeli forces.

“We are very concerned about the safety of patients and health workers due to the increasing hostility around the hospital,” Ghebreyesus said in a post on the X platform.

According to eyewitnesses, Israeli forces targeted buildings and courtyards of the complex with bullets, resulting in the death of two Palestinians and serious wounding of another in the departments and courtyards of the hospital.

Since January 22, the Israeli army has launched a series of intense air and artillery attacks around Khan Yunis and the hospitals there, amid ground advances of its vehicles into the southern and western neighborhoods of the city, injuring thousands of people. .
