Dozens of martyrs and injured in massive bombing on Rafah


Al Jazeera correspondent reported that 11 Palestinians, including a girl, were martyred and dozens of others were injured as a result of a series of heavy raids launched by occupied aircraft on various areas of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The reporter said injured people, including children and women, reached Kuwaiti hospitals as a result of the violent and unprecedented Israeli bombardment, which mainly targeted the north of Rafah city.

Israeli bombardment targeted the al-Rahma mosque in al-Shaboura camp in Rafah, the reporter said, indicating that there were casualties.

He said hundreds of civilians fled to a Kuwaiti hospital to escape the violent Israeli bombardment.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent said the intensive raid targeted populated homes in front of the Crescent Society's headquarters in the center of Rafah.

Earlier, Al Jazeera correspondent reported hearing of clashes, artillery shelling and intensive raids in Rafah city. He also talked about bombing near the border with Egypt.

The correspondent said that intense Israeli clashes were taking place around the Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah.

In its first statement after the Rafah bombing, the Israeli army said it carried out a series of attacks on specific targets in the al-Shaboura area in the southern Gaza Strip.
