Martyred and injured in Israeli attack targeting Hamas leader in Lebanon

Al Jazeera's correspondent reported today, Saturday, that a car exploded in the town of Jadra in the Iqlim al-Kharroub region of Mount Lebanon.

Two people were killed and two others were injured in an Israeli bomb targeting a car in the town of Jadra in the Iqlim al-Kharroub region, north of the Lebanese city of Sidon, a security source told Al Jazeera.

The Israeli military announced that it had carried out an extraordinary attack in Sidon, targeting Basil Saleh, a senior official of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Lebanon.

This is the first time that this area, about 60 kilometers from the Lebanese border, has been targeted.

Meanwhile, security sources confirmed to Reuters that a Palestinian man close to the Hamas movement survived an Israeli attack on Saturday about 60 kilometers inside Lebanese territory.

Anatolia Agency said that according to witnesses, 4 people were killed and others were injured near the targeted car in the Kharroub area.

In early January, an Israeli raid targeted a meeting of Hamas leaders in a southern suburb of the capital Beirut, killing Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy head of the movement's political bureau, and several of his comrades.

In the wake of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, since October 8, the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed firing between Israeli forces on one side and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other, resulting in deaths. And injuries on both sides of the border.
