Aguero recalls his downfall and suffering in his last match with Barcelona

Retired Argentina star Sergio Aguero recalled key moments and details of his suffering during his last match with Barcelona against Deportivo Alaves, which ended his career at the Camp Nou.

Aguero collapsed shortly before the end of the first half in 2021 after complaining of breathing problems, and it was revealed that he was suffering from a heart problem, which led him to retire from playing football.

Aguero said during an interview with “Clank Media”, “I felt like I was drowning and there was no pain. There was a lot of pressure in my head and I felt like I was physically sick.”

He added, “I jumped for the header. I started feeling dizzy. I felt like I was going to faint and I wanted to calm down. I wanted to say something, but the words weren't coming out.”

He added, “I grabbed the Alaves captain's hand as if to say, 'Stop the game,' and he responded and started shouting, 'Stop the game.' When I calmed down, I felt my heart start beating faster.”

He further said, 'This happened to me during training a week ago, but it happened only for 20 seconds.'

Before leaving the field in the 41st minute, the Argentine suffered chest pains and dizziness and had to be treated on the field as he felt “like he was about to faint.”

Aguero, 35, was later diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat.

Aguero joined the Spanish giants on a free transfer from Manchester City in the summer of 2021.

Agüero officially announced his retirement from football in December 2021 during a press conference at the Camp Nou Stadium in the presence of his former coach Pep Guardiola.
