Mass demonstrations in Europe demand end to “genocide” in Gaza

Thousands of people demonstrated in Britain, France, Germany and other European countries today, Saturday, to demand an end to “crimes of genocide” committed by Israel against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In the British capital, London, a massive demonstration took place under the slogan “Stop the genocide in Gaza”, which was called the National March for Palestine.

Protesters marched through the streets to the government headquarters, where the major demonstration is being held, organized by several human rights organizations including the Palestine Solidarity Committee and the Stop the War coalition.

Activists circulated video clips of the march on social media, and participants demanded an immediate ceasefire and condemned crimes committed by Israel in the context of the nearly 4-month-long war on Gaza.

Organizers have criticized the Metropolitan Police for attempting to intimidate and harass protesters.

Demonstrations were also held in the German capital, Berlin, called by Palestinian and German organizations and associations under the slogan “Freedom for Palestine”. Speakers at the demonstration called on the German government to take action to stop the genocide perpetrated by Israel. In Gaza.

In this context, the European Palestinian Information Center published scenes of a demonstration in support of Gaza in the Danish capital Copenhagen and protesters raising Palestinian flags demanding an immediate ceasefire.

The center also broadcast live footage of a demonstration in the city of Uppsala in southeastern Sweden as protesters demanded a boycott of Israel and an end to the war on the Gaza Strip.

A massive march took place in the Finnish capital Helsinki today demanding an end to the “genocidal war” in the Gaza Strip.

New York and Washington

Outside Europe, students and movements supporting Palestine yesterday gathered in New York in the United States to support Palestine, condemn US support for Israel, and condemn the harassment of pro-Gaza students on the campuses of Barnard and Columbia universities. Organized large scale demonstrations.

Thousands marched to Columbia University to denounce the university's bias towards Israeli students who attacked activists supporting a halt to the war and an end to the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

In parallel, New York police cordoned off two university buildings and warned against protest participants entering Barnard University, while treating them violently at the doors of Columbia University.

In Washington, protesters yesterday closed five entrances to the US capital to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and condemn Western cuts to funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
