American President Biden has declared from the UN Assembly that this meeting is “darkened by the shadow of war”, which he describes as an “illegal war of occupation and unprovoked by Russia”.
“No nation wants the war to end more than Ukraine,” he said, reiterating US support for Kiev and its efforts to bring about “a diplomatic solution for a just and lasting peace.”
He added that Russia bears responsibility for the war in Ukraine and that only it has the power to end the war immediately.
“Only Russia stands on the path of peace, because Russia’s price for peace is the capitulation of Ukraine,” Biden emphasized.
Biden went on to say that the US will continue to stand with the people of Ukraine as they defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity and freedom.
