The International Criminal Court officially admitted today (19.9.2023) that its information systems were attacked by hackers last week.
The International Criminal Court said it detected unusual activity on its information systems late last week, admitting that it had been hacked.
“Immediate measures were taken to address this cyber security incident and to mitigate its impact,” the International Criminal Court said in a statement.
A spokesman for the International Criminal Court said it was unable to provide answers on how the hackers’ online intrusion was carried out, to what extent the ICC’s operations were affected or who might be behind the cyber attack.
The International Criminal Court, based in The Hague, underlined that it continues to “analyze and mitigate the effects of this incident” with the assistance of the Dutch government.
It added that it is also taking measures to strengthen its cyber security.
