The Algerian civil protection teams present in the Libyan city of Derna were able to recover 198 bodies since the beginning of their work within the framework of the solidarity mission following the hurricane that struck this country recently, according to what was indicated today, Tuesday, by a statement by the General Directorate of Civil Protection.
The same source explained, “Today, 61 bodies were recovered in the Libyan city of Derna, bringing the total number of victims whose bodies the Civil Protection Units were able to recover, since the beginning of their solidarity mission, to 198 bodies.”
Civil protection teams have been present in Libya for about a week, participating in rescue and relief operations following the recent floods resulting from a strong hurricane that struck eastern Libya.
These teams consist of 113 assistants of various ranks and specializations, including the divers team, the medical team specializing in disaster medicine, the operations management team, search and rescue teams, scenotechnical teams, logistical teams, and psychologists.
The latest confirmed data from the Libyan Ministry of Health indicates the death of nearly 4,000 people, in addition to counting thousands of missing persons, as of Monday.
