One person has died and 67 others have been infected with the coronavirus in the last two weeks in Kosovo.
According to the Ministry of Health in this country, the average age of the infected is 52 years old.
In a press release, the Ministry said that the largest number of infected in the period August 30 – September 12 was registered in Pristina, 25 cases, Peja, eight cases, Gjakovë, seven cases.
The Ministry has said that the National Institute for Public Health (IKSHPK) is constantly monitoring the epidemiological situation, which is estimated to be calm.
It has been announced that IKSHPK has identified several types of variants of the coronavirus in Kosovo, after other analyzes in the Department of Microbiology.
Against this virus – which causes the disease COVID-19 – the authorities in Kosovo have approved the provision of two vaccines produced by Pfizer and Astra-Zeneca.
The new coronavirus was first reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China.
The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus as a pandemic on March 11, 2020.
More than 6.9 million people have died since the outbreak of the pandemic worldwide.
The United States has recorded the highest number of victims, followed by India and Brazil./REL/
