Kate Winslet’s performance in “Lee” is predicted to be worthy of an Oscar, according to international media.
The dramatic biopic starring the Hollywood star premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and, by all accounts, is poised to take center stage at the Academy Awards.
The British screen star plays Lee Miller in the biopic of her name, based on her son Anthony Penrose’s book The Lives of Lee Miller. Winslet transforms into the iconic blonde-haired photographer, dressed in military gear and a helmet.
Years after his mother’s death, Penrose discovered over 60,000 negatives and prints in the attic. It was then that he began to learn more about her, leading to the writing of his biography.
Lee Miller was one of the war photographers who left a rich legacy with her work. “This is an exciting drama that plunges the viewer directly into the war zone,” says Variety.
