As reported by the British Mirror, authorities in Poland arrested 54-year-old Piotr Gerasik and his 20-year-old daughter, Polina, who are charged with murder and incest and face life in prison. The bodies of the newborns were discovered in makeshift graves wrapped in plastic bags.
“The woman was charged with two counts of murder and one count of incest with her father. The man was charged three counts of murder, a charge of incest with his 20-year-old daughter and a charge of incest with another daughter,” the District Attorney’s Office in Gdansk, Poland, reported the Mirror.
In addition to these charges, the authorities suspect the 54-year-old father of the murder of the third baby, while, according to what has become known, the 2 babies came from his incestuous relationship with his 20-year-old daughter, while the other baby from the same relationship which he had with his other daughter.
The 20-year-old Polina had consensual incestuous relationship with her 54-year-old father while his other daughter was forced into sexual intercourse by him, reports the Mirror, among others.
The 54-year-old had moved to the Polish village about 15 years ago and was raising his children alone, after the death of his wife. A resident of the village spoke to the Super Express newspaper about the family and said that “the father was left alone with the children. There are many, ten or twelve, the biggest ones are already gone.
Piotr made a good impression on us. There was no sign of him drinking. Take the children for walks in the forest to pick mushrooms. Just ordinary people. No one could have thought that all this would happen in their home,” added the resident.
In fact, a colleague of the 20-year-old had suspected that she was pregnant, as he saw her wearing baggy clothes. These suspicions were reinforced by the fact that she took 3 weeks off work but returned after a week.
“We all assumed it was pregnant, I think she had belts tied around her like a kind of corset. When she returned early from her vacation, the change was visible. She was much thinner, weak and constantly tired. When we asked her about the child, she pretended to be surprised and denied it,” said the colleague.
Speaking to Fakt newspaper, another resident of the village said that “they lived as a couple. She called him by his first name. They walked hand in hand. A few months ago, she shaved her head so the other boys wouldn’t look at her. He looked at him as if he were God.”
Meanwhile, the Mirror reports that a colleague of the 20-year-old’s is said to be the one who alerted social services to search their home after seeing a disturbing text message she had sent to her father.
Prosecutors are now awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how the babies died, while authorities continue to search their home for other bodies or gruesome findings.
