Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane reaffirmed Algeria’s willingness to support all Arab efforts aimed at promoting joint Arab action in various areas, particularly in the economic field.
The Prime Minister said on Sunday, while overseeing the opening of the meeting of the Board of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Institutions, that this meeting is an opportunity to coordinate the efforts of Arab countries and unify them to address the current challenges, particularly regarding fiscal and monetary policies as well as the promotion of digitalization in financial services.
“Despite the various crises around the world, there have been remarkable developments in terms of macroeconomic and financial indicators.”
Benabderrahmane also revealed that the Algerian gross domestic product (GDP), reassessed by examining the reference year, reached $233 billion in 2022 and that its average GDP per capita was $5,187 for 2022.
The chief minister added that Algeria’s trade balance reached a surplus of $26 billion in 2022 and is expected to continue to do so despite falling hydrocarbon prices.
Algeria has always strived to preserve the purchasing power of citizens by subsidizing consumer products and implementing an effective economic policy to counter inflation.
