The military junta that seized power in Niger last month said in a statement carried by Reuters that the French ambassador to Niger, Sylvain Ayet, no longer enjoys diplomatic immunity and that the police had received instructions to expel him.
On Friday, the military junta ordered the ambassador to leave the country within 48 hours in response to the actions of the French government, which it said were “contrary to the interests of Niger.”
