The provocative dance on the grave of their father, who is a hero in Ukraine’s struggle for freedom, will cost two girls from Kiev dearly, who have been arrested by the police and risk up to 5 years in prison.
The two sisters had gone to visit their father’s grave in the “Forest” cemetery of the Ukrainian capital on August 24.
But instead of paying tribute to their late father, they chose to film a video to post on social media, where they both dance and twerk.
The viral video shows the two sisters, dressed in black T-shirts and shorts, dancing as they stand among the soldiers’ graves, which are decorated with flowers and the Ukrainian flag.
The girls’ father was a soldier of the 95th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was killed near Izium, in the eastern Donetsk region.
He was killed in the war defending Ukraine from Vladimir Putin’s invading army, but his daughters will face the law for desecrating the image of fallen soldiers.
After a furious reaction, they admitted that they were wrong and that the dance they had done was inappropriate.
One of the sisters spoke on social networks asking for forgiveness.
“My sister and I ask for forgiveness, we honor every soldier who died for our country. We visited the grave of our fallen father, who died near Izium. “Unfortunately, it was not very correct to post this kind of video, although we did not intend to desecrate the heroes,” she said.
