Next, the draw for the Champions League groups for the new season. Only three teams remain to complete the pots, winners Antwerp-AEK Athens, Copenhagen-Rakow and PSV-Glasgow Rangers, which will be added to the 29 teams already qualified.
The first and second pots of the draw are already complete, the third and fourth will be filled depending on who qualifies from the play-off. The Italians in any case already have secured positions (Napoli in the first pot, Inter in the second, Lazio and Milan in the third).
The draw for the Champions League groups will take place on Thursday, August 31, at 18:00. The 32 teams will be divided into four groups. The first pot consists of the defending champions, the winner of the “Europa League” and six national champions.
The other pots, from second to fourth will be determined by the ranking of the clubs. No team can face another from the same federation. Any other restrictions will be announced before the draw.

SECOND POT – Atletico Madrid, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Leipzig, Manchester United, Porto, Real Madrid

FOURTH POT – Galatasaray, Lens, Newcastle, Real Sociedad, Union Berlin (plus those coming from the “play off”).
The top two of each group will advance to the next round, where direct elimination begins. The third place teams from each group will go to the “play-off” for the elimination phase of the “Europa League”, where they will face the second place teams from the respective groups of the “Europa League” for a place in 1/ 8 finals.
