Engineer Jorgji Hanxhari, through a direct communication in the News24 studio, commented on the developments surrounding the oil source that was recently discovered in Shpirag.
He said that the merits for the discovery of this resource belong to the Albanian geologists who carried out the initial designs, but who, according to him, did not have the right technology to continue with the drilling.
Hanxhari added that there are still many questions regarding this well, while he said that it is still too early to determine a deadline for the release of oil to the market if it will be valid.
According to him, first the work for drilling wells and then the construction of the infrastructure for extraction, transportation and cleaning should continue.
“The discovery of this source belongs to our geologists in Fier who designed the well that was not drilled for technological reasons. This is in the vicinity of Shpirag and the wells there have been predicted by our geologists. It is a little incomprehensible to change the name from the place Sqepur to Shpirag.
There are still many questions about this well. It is still in the initial phase and the results are expected as stated in October. Why so long, the truth is that the formations are strong and drilling presents difficulties.
It is difficult to determine a deadline for the release of oil to the market if it will be valid. First, the work should continue with the drilling of the wells. There are also other works such as the construction of pipelines or oil and gas plants for transportation, cleaning, etc., he said.
