The Japanese government plans in fiscal year 2024 (ends March 31, 2025) to allocate a total of 5 billion yen (more than $34.2 million) in military aid to six countries, Vietnam, Djibouti, Indonesia, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines .
Also, these countries are expected to receive space communication systems, radars and patrol boats, equipment for military ports.
The aid will be distributed on preferential terms and its amount will increase. In order to coordinate this activity in the Japanese Foreign Ministry, it is planned to create a special group of 10 people.
The recipient countries of Japanese aid are of great geopolitical importance to Tokyo, especially in terms of containing China. Additionally, the Japanese Navy’s stronghold is located in Djibouti.
