The urban block near the former Glass Factory in Kombinat is being rehabilitated by the Municipality of Tirana. In addition to the streets “Zagoria”, “Jorgo Panajoti” and the alleys which are being paved with all the elements of the road infrastructure, the Municipality of Tirana is also intervening in the network of white water and waste water, to improve the quality of life of community of the area.
Mayor Erion Veliaj today inspected the works in this block of buildings, the systemization of which will greatly help the residents, especially with the beginning of the new school year.
“I am very proud that we have found understanding with the residents. No one feels good when they receive the notification to move the yard a little, but it is all done for a good purpose: If there was asphalt, sidewalks, greenery, lighting, and sewers for white and black water, the value of the whole area increases. This is a border area, where Unit 14 joins Unit 6, and this fantastic connection that we make from the roundabout of “Migjeni” Boulevard to Rruga e Celqi, may indeed have been a pruning of trees, but the fact that we will have a road right, with urban quality, now that school is starting, I believe it is excellent news,” said Veliaj.
He said that this block is another promise kept for the residents. “I just want to express my gratitude to the residents. It was one of those projects where the essence of why we do these urbanizations was really understood. We have had extraordinary cooperation, so I want to emphasize that Unit 14 and the Combine gave us extraordinary trust, and this extraordinary trust is not repaid with thanks and speeches, but with concrete work, with asphalt, with sidewalks, with greenery, with lighting, with sewers. We started this construction site after the elections to show that we will not wait four years to keep our promises, but our promise that this will be a mandate of capillary roads, that is, of going to the extreme, and especially in the border areas, and which are probably not in the attention of the central spaces of the Units, will be a promise that we want to keep with insistence,” declared the mayor.
Veliaj further said that within two months the block will be ready. “The engineers inform me that we are proceeding according to plan, we still have two months of work. We will have finished this block before the rains start, so I want to work in fifth gear. It is very important that, as people return from vacation and prepare for school on 9/11, we get the bulk of the work done. Then, we will also work through the night. As you have seen, throughout August we were on the ground, even with extraordinary temperatures, therefore I assure the citizens that we will be in the entire territory,” said the mayor.
He also said that this will be a mandate of the neighborhoods and all the alleys.
