Poland and the Baltic states would completely close their borders with Belarus in the event of a “critical incident” involving Wagner’s mercenaries, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said.
He also demanded that Wagner personnel “immediately leave the territory of Belarus”, opening the possibility of “revenge”.
Lithuania’s Interior Ministry will propose that two of the country’s four remaining border crossings with Belarus be closed, the BNS news agency reported. Latvia also shares a border with Belarus.
Poland has seen an increase in the number of mainly Middle Eastern and African migrants trying to cross the border in recent months – and has accused Belarus of facilitating it.
