To Alan Wake 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the coming weeks and as it turns out, behind its creation is not a particularly large team. According to the studio’s Communications Director, Thomas Puha, about 130 developers have been working for four years on its development. Given how impressive the game looks, it’s impressive that such a small team has managed such an impressive result, befitting a AAA production.
Also, Remedy faced difficulties during the development process, as it coincided with the time of the pandemic and the restructuring of the studio after 28 years in the spotlight.
Alan Wake 2 will be released on October 27, 20023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
I’ll also say that somehow we are getting this game done with about 130 people on average for about 4 years of dev time (dev time is a very elastic term tho) for the quality level we got, is incredible. We are very, very far from 1st parties or other big studios resources.

Also this is by far the toughest game to get done in my 8 years at Remedy. Covid, Remedy going under its biggest transformation in its 28 year history which presents its own challenges (same as many other devs) and lot ups and downs. That’s just life. Somehow, we are managing.
