The authorities stated to the military council in Niger, on Sunday, that they do not bear responsibility for what may result if the French ambassador refuses to leave the country, with the end of the 48-hour deadline granted to him by the authorities.
This comes, after the National Council for the Protection of the Homeland in Niger announced the expulsion of the French ambassador, Sylvain Etty, for not responding to an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an interview, in addition to “other actions of the French government that contradict the interests of Niger,” while France refused to ask the military authorities in Niger to leave. Her ambassador considered that “the revolutionaries do not have the capacity” to submit such a request.
The Transitional Military Council in Niger pledged, in front of a crowd of about 20,000 Nigeriens who gathered on Saturday evening in the capital, Niamey, to continue the struggle to reach “the day when there will be no French soldier in the country.”
