Today, Thursday, in Johannesburg (South Africa), Finance Minister Laziz Fayed held a meeting with South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, which focused on enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries, according to a ministry statement.
During this meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 15th session of the BRICS summit, ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed, as well as a review of the opportunities available to enhance trade exchange and joint investment, with the aim of achieving sustainable development in the region.
In this context, the same source added, the two parties pledged to continue efforts aimed at “developing economic relations and raising them to the ranks of historical and friendly relations that have always distinguished both countries.”
In the same context, “the file of Algeria’s accession to the New Development Bank was discussed,” where the South African Minister of Finance expressed – according to the statement – his country’s support for Algeria’s accession to this bank, stressing that “every effort will be made to accelerate the accession process.” ‘.
The discussions also centered on the issues raised at the fifteenth summit of the BRICS countries, especially those related to financial and monetary cooperation, the source confirms, noting also that, within the framework of this meeting, “how to upgrade commercial transactions using national currencies” was discussed.
