South African President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed on Thursday that the BRICS group had taken a decision to invite Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, Ethiopia and Argentina to become members of the group.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the leaders of the BRICS countries adopted the final declaration of the fifteenth summit in Johannesburg.
Ramaphosa indicated that full membership of the new BRICS countries will begin on January 1, 2024.
Brazilian media reported last Tuesday that the BRICS countries would announce the expansion of the group to include five additional countries, with the possibility of a sixth member joining in the coming years.
