Dr. Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Health Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, revealed that the committee will address the Speaker of Parliament, Counselor Dr. Hanafi Jabali, to prepare for holding an expanded meeting or conference between all specific committees concerned with the population issue, to present opinions and discuss solutions and visions to confront this issue.
This was stated during a meeting of the Health Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives headed by Dr. Ashraf Hatem, today, Sunday, to discuss the population issue in light of the vision of the political leadership and in support of the state’s efforts to find radical solutions to confront the problem of population increase and limit its repercussions, in light of the request submitted by Representative Dr. Abla Al-Alfi – Member The Commission.
Hatem added that there are 12 committees, including health affairs, social solidarity, education, human rights, defense, national security, religious affairs, endowments, plan and budget, economic affairs, youth and sports, and others, concerned with the population issue, and an expanded meeting will be held to discuss the issue and prepare a working document and review the 2030 strategy to confront the population issue. And inviting all relevant ministries to attend, explaining that the meeting may be before or after the holy month of Ramadan.
The head of the Health Affairs Committee concluded that the population increase is one of the crises that poses a threat to economic growth and needs to be confronted and its causes addressed, pointing out that it is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Health alone, but the responsibility of everyone, the relevant ministries and citizens, and it needs solidarity to confront it.
