The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, stressed the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom, pointing to the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of education, research, and training, and strengthening the partnership between Egyptian and British universities.
This came during the minister’s meeting today, Wednesday, with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hull, Dr. Philip Gilmartin, and the university’s international cooperation official, Robert Skelton Clark, and their accompanying delegation. To discuss ways of cooperation with the university.
Ashour said that the ministry’s strategy is based on benefiting from distinguished international experiences in developing the system of higher education and scientific research. In implementation of the presidential directives, and in a way that achieves the goals of sustainable development (Egypt’s Vision 2030).
The two sides discussed enhancing aspects of scientific and cultural cooperation, exchanging experiences between Egyptian universities and the British University of Hull, conducting scientific research in areas of priority and common interest, as well as cooperation in the field of educational systems and academic regulations.
They also discussed the possibility of exchanging visits and scientific missions at the level of students, professors, experts and researchers between Egyptian universities and the British University of Hull, in addition to providing training opportunities for young researchers to develop their educational, research and training capabilities, and qualifying students for the requirements of the labor market, as well as providing academic programs for skills development. Supporting the administrative sector in universities.
For his part, Dr. Philip Gilmartin affirmed his country’s keenness to strengthen cooperation relations with Egypt as an important partner for the United Kingdom in many fields, noting that the University of Hull is one of the oldest British universities, as it was founded in 1927.
He explained the university’s interest in strengthening the strategic partnership with North African countries with a number of global challenges related to basic health, the development of green energy technologies, sustainable food supply chains and city planning.
He said that the university has research institutes in logistics, clinical medicine, applied health research and data science, noting that there is cooperation between the university and a number of Egyptian universities (Cairo, Assiut, Ain Shams and Mansoura) in areas related to health, business administration, tourism and computer science. and medicine.
He pointed out the signing of a cooperation protocol with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport; To grant a number of degrees to undergraduate students in the fields of political science, marketing, business administration, transportation, logistics and accounting, finance, media management and international trade, stressing the university’s keenness to activate more aspects of cooperation with higher education institutions in Egypt.
