Esslingen (Germany) – (dpa):
A man dressed as an executioner and carrying an ancient sword caused a police operation in the old district of the German city of Esslingen.
Witnesses were apparently worried about expecting him to act violently when they saw him playing the role of conducting a tour of the medieval city.
Police said witnesses reported a “masked man with a gun”, causing officials to close the market partly because the man was seen there on Friday.
Police officers were then able to track down the “executioner” in the basement of a nearby house – and found that he was preparing for his tour of the Old City.
