Apart from lawyer Abdus Sattar, there was pressure and pressure on two others who resigned from Parliament. But others ultimately did not follow the path of lawyer Abdus Sattar. As the nomination in the next election is uncertain, lawyer Abdus Satta could not hold himself in the face of temptation or pressure. He was associated with BNP since its inception. He has been elected five times as a Member of Parliament from BNP. He also served as a minister. Maybe for some reason he felt neglected and cornered in the party.
Lawyer Abdus Sattar may once again introduce himself as a Member of Parliament. But he will be considered as a defector in the pages of history. His long illustrious political career ended with this election. It was said that he would probably not be able to run for election again in the future. If the elections are held under a non-partisan caretaker government, he is unlikely to get his nomination from either Awami League or BNP. Again, even if the election is held under the Awami League government like in 2018, the chances of him getting a nomination from any party are slim. He did not speak against the decision imposed by BNP. And now he could not go beyond the anti-people position called election.
But the point of crisis for BNP is that if Awami League finally finalizes everything to complete the next election under them, then many others like Ukil Abdus Sattar may leave the party and join the election as an independent. Even if BNP does not participate in the elections, many of the party may leave the party and go towards elections like Ukil Sattar. Because BNP has been out of power for a long time. Various kinds of pressure from the government, jails, disappearances, oppression have been associated with internal strife, fights over illusory nominations. It has not been decided whether BNP will go to the next election or whether the election will be held as per BNP’s demand. But the BNP leaders and workers are engaged in a conflict over the nomination right now.
