In the press conference, Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Majbaul Haque said that a considerable amount of credit has been opened for the import of those products which demand increases during Ramadan. As much as required, the amount of credit is opened.
Mezbaul Haque said that there will be no shortage in Ramadan if products are supplied through close supervision. Regular market surveillance is being done with the help of Ministry of Commerce. If any assistance (i.e. dollars) is required to settle the loan, Bangladesh Bank will provide that assistance. Policy assistance provided for import of Ramadan products. Loans are also being opened on demand. Hopefully, product supply will also be normal.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine war, there was a dollar crisis in the country since April last year. The dollar price increased from 85 taka to 107 taka. In such a situation, Bangladesh Bank increases import supervision.
