Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in Istanbul that Western countries that temporarily closed their consulates in Turkey or issued a terrorist threat warning did so deliberately, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.
These countries include the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy.
Cavusoglu stated that some consulates encouraged others to close.
He added that countries did not share intelligence about the source of the threat.
Yesterday, Thursday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the ambassadors of the nine countries, including those countries that closed their consulates in Turkey due to terrorist threats, according to the Turkish “Anatolia” news agency.
And the state channel “TRT” reported that the closures came after a security warning from the United States of America.
Warnings also came from Germany, Sweden, Britain and Switzerland of an increased risk of attacks in Turkey, after tensions erupted with some European countries over protests that Ankara considered anti-Islam or anti-Turkish.
