Juba – (DPA)
The Minister of Information of South Sudan said that at least twenty people were killed in clashes that occurred hours before the arrival of Pope Francis I to the country, at the end of a six-day African tour.
The violent incidents that took place on Thursday were due to the cattle herders’ revenge after they were attacked by unknown armed groups earlier.
Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, at 1300 GMT today, Friday, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Pope Francis made an appeal for peace and an end to bloody conflicts at the start of his visit to Africa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
