US President Joe Biden’s lawyer announced today, Wednesday, that the Department of Justice is searching Biden’s home in Delaware according to plan, adding that no classified documents were found.
Reuters quoted the lawyer as saying that the FBI was carrying out a “planned search” after secret documents were found elsewhere.
“We agreed to cooperate,” Bob Bauer, Biden’s personal lawyer, added in a statement, noting that more information would be revealed after the inspection was completed.
The search in Rehoboth was conducted in an operation the attorney said had the “full support and cooperation of the President” following similar searches that uncovered a trove of documents at Biden’s home in Wilmington and a former office the president used in Washington.
The issue seems embarrassing to Biden, especially since he intends to announce his candidacy for a second presidential term in 2024.
And the Ministry of Justice appointed a special committee to conduct an independent investigation, similar to another committee that is overseeing a similar investigation against former President Donald Trump, on the background of his transfer of several boxes containing official documents to his home in Florida.
Biden’s lawyers assert that the forty-sixth president of the United States “unintentionally” kept these documents.
