Journalist Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb claims that the Canadian studio had two new projects in the works, as well as a brand new IP, which were cancelled. It seems that the company has been affected by the recent wave of layoffs at Microsoft and is now expected to turn its full attention to the development of Gears 6.
For its part, the studio announced in May 2021 that it is preparing for the transition to the development of new-gen titles using Unreal Engine 5. Recently, its collaboration with Netflix, for the development of various projects on the subject of Gears of War as a live-action movie (no release date).
Gears 5 is out for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC.
