Kyiv – (dpa):
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukraine expects to receive up to 140 modern Western battle tanks from 12 partners, including the United States and Germany.
He also continued to push for warplane shipments, even though the United States and Germany had already stated that they would not export warplanes to Kiev.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksey Reznikov went to Paris today to discuss with the French the supply of warplanes to his country, according to media.
Ukrainian officials say the tanks are necessary to counter Russia, which invaded the country nearly a year ago.
It is expected that advanced vehicles such as the German Leopard 2, the British Challenger 2, and the American M1 Abrams will enter the battlefields in the next few months.
Koleba could not name all the partners in the coalition at the moment, as there are still some formalities that are being completed. Kuleba expressed Kyiv’s great hope of obtaining French Leclerc tanks and larger shipments from the countries already involved.
