A massive fire broke out inside the radiology center at Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi Charitable Hospital in Al-Matareya, on Wednesday, killing 3 people as a result of suffocation, and injuring 32 others.
The security services are conducting extensive investigations and discussions with eyewitnesses and hospital staff to fully reveal the causes and circumstances of the fire.
In the report, “Masrawy” monitors scenes from the “Al-Noor Al-Mohammadi” hospital fire:
Hearing an explosion and flying flames
An eyewitness said, in exclusive statements to “Masrawy”, that at exactly two thirty in the afternoon, the people of the area heard the sound of an explosion, and they rushed to the source of the sound to see flames flying from inside the hospital, and a distress call from inside.
Jdana children of the country
The people of Al-Mataria district were divided into two parts, where part of them went inside the hospital in the midst of the fire, to help patients, the elderly and children get out of the back door of the hospital, while the other part rushed to fill water and bring fire extinguishers in an attempt to control the fire.
Evacuation of children from the orphanage
Moments of terror experienced by the children in the Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi orphanage, in the building adjacent to the hospital, after the fire broke out.
The home officials were able to evacuate the children through the emergency doors and transfer them to a building belonging to the Sharia Association in El-Matareya, without any injuries.
An epic written by civil protection men
Only minutes passed after a fire broke out, and the first fire engine arrived at the scene, followed by 9 other cars, which were pushed by the Civil Protection Forces in Cairo.
Civil protection men were able to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
12 ambulances to transport the victims and the injured
The Ministry of Health sent 12 ambulances to transport the victims and the injured, and the cars transported three bodies to the morgue.
The injured were transferred to neighboring hospitals, 14 injured to Al-Zaitoun Specialist Hospital, 11 injured to Al-Mataria Hospital, two others to Ain Shams Hospital, and one to Sayed Jalal University Hospital.
