Telecom Egypt announced that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has accepted and approved the financial and technical offer submitted by it to obtain a new frequency band with a width of 5 MHz in the frequency band of 1800 MHz with FDD technology, with a usufruct system for a period of 10 years, at a cost of $ 125 million.
The company said, in a statement today, Tuesday, that this price is competitive compared to the frequencies that the company obtained in late 2020.
She added that this strategic step comes within the framework of the company’s endeavor to absorb the increasing demand for all mobile services and improve the quality of services provided at the lowest costs in light of the growth of the customer base.
The company stated that the new frequencies contribute to improving the quality of voice and data services by developing the network throughout the Republic to keep pace with the rapid development in customers’ needs and aspirations, as the new frequencies provide future commercial and technological advantages for all its customers who benefit from all the services provided.
Telecom Egypt’s customers will be able to benefit from this step as soon as it is implemented, given the company’s technical readiness to use these new frequencies, according to the statement.
She explained that pumping new investments to acquire new frequencies, develop infrastructure and networks, and use the latest technological solutions are among the main pillars of the company’s strategy towards transforming from just an integrated telecommunications service provider to achieving leadership as the best provider of communications and information technology services in Egypt, according to the statement.
Adel Hamed, Managing Director and CEO of Telecom Egypt, said that through the additional frequencies, the company will work to continue providing high quality telecommunications services at competitive prices while accommodating the continuous increase in the mobile phone customer base.
