Amr Al-Qadi, head of the Tourism Promotion Authority, said that the preliminary figures indicate an increase in the rates of tourist delegations to Egypt in 2022 compared to 2021 by more than 40%, stressing that the indicators indicate that we will have a good summer tourist season.
Al-Qadi confirmed, in his meeting with the “Masa DMC” program, broadcast on the “DMC” satellite channel, today, Tuesday, that this matter represents a great success despite the major crisis that occurred in 2022 in the global tourism market due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
He explained that Egypt succeeded in overcoming the obstacle of stopping Ukrainian tourism almost completely, and nearly 60% of Russian tourism stopped, especially since Ukraine and Russia before the crisis represented 40% of the tourist delegations to Egypt.
He added that the authority is working to communicate with the American billionaire Elon Musk, owner of Tesla, and invite him to visit Egypt, saying: “We are trying to communicate with Elon Musk and invite him to visit Egypt, but he has an agenda and visits, and we are waiting for the response.”
