Majdi Sadek, a member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies, described the decision to prevent tourism companies from dealing with customers in foreign currency as “strange,” pointing out that the law guarantees companies the right to deal with their customers in foreign currencies because they mainly deal with foreigners.
Sadiq added, during a phone call to the “Hazrat Al-Citizen” program broadcast on Al-Hadath Al-Youm satellite channel today, Monday, that tourism companies are considered one of the main sources of foreign currency in Egypt, and that the existing foreign currency appears in the transfers of the Central Bank and the external agent for companies. .
He explained that emergencies and some additional trips require companies to obtain foreign currency from foreigners, and the general logic is that we are like all countries in the world.
A member of the Chamber of Tourism Companies confirmed that the Chamber does not object to state policies, adding: “We are the only legitimate form of the state and appear on all its databases, and we are now dealing with the electronic bill compulsorily, and we do not work outside this framework, but please don’t degrade us in the form that we are the cause of the dollar crisis.” existing”.
Regarding the demands of the Chamber of Tourism, he replied: “Preventing inspection campaigns on companies. It must be known that if Egypt has an income of $12 billion, tourism companies bring them in, and 98% of the tourism market operates in private companies and 2% of government companies, and therefore we call for respect for the law and comfort.” the tourist”.
