But so far, the majority of the Muslim community agrees that it is right to put pressure on Mamata Banerjee, but not to remove her from power. As a result, even though the Muslim community has opposed the Trinamool Congress for five consecutive years, it is still voting for the Trinamool in the assembly elections.
A section of the Muslim community is pursuing higher education in West Bengal. The main reason for this is the ‘mission movement’ or the private education movement in West Bengal funded by various donors. According to the mission managers, the education of the children of poor families in hostels is not being done in other states like in West Bengal. Many of the doctors in village hospitals now come from the Muslim community.
Many are going to study in famous universities in Europe and America after getting scholarship. Muslim society considers it a big change. The Trinamool government has not only played a very positive role in accelerating this change, but has also not tried to stop the minority education movement. The Muslim community fears that if the BJP comes to power, zakat and private education movements will be monitored, as has happened in BJP-ruled Assam. There, government madrasas have been closed and private madrasas have been heavily monitored.
