Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud said he hopes for the support of US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas Greenfield for his country’s efforts to lift the arms embargo imposed on the country, noting the challenge posed by the arms embargo in order to rebuild the Somali army and accelerate the elimination of terrorism.
This came during President Hassan’s reception, this Sunday evening, in his office at the presidential palace, Ambassador Linda Thomas, who is currently visiting Somalia, where President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud reviewed the general situation in his country, especially the ongoing military operations throughout the country against the terrorist Kharijite militias associated with Al-Qaeda organization, and the great achievements made by the Somali armed forces, according to what was reported by the Somali News Agency (SUNA).
For her part, Ambassador Linda praised the operations to liberate the country from terrorism, expressing her support for the Somali people and their government in their efforts to eliminate the terrorist Kharijite militias.
