The working group of the project “Supporting the Creation of a Safe Work Environment for Women in the Tourism Sector in the Arab Republic of Egypt”, which is being implemented by the National Council for Women, held a meeting with Dr. Maged Negm, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, and Dr. Nashwi Talaat, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Development.
Dr. Naglaa Al-Adly, Director General of the General Department of International Agreements and International Cooperation at the Council, said in a statement today that the meeting discussed the activity of training male and female students of tourism faculties and private hotels in some Egyptian universities, in order to enhance their capabilities and qualify them to work within the tourism sector.
She added that the training also aims to motivate and improve the percentage of women working in this field, taking into account raising youth awareness of the importance of achieving the principles of gender equality within the sector, which contributes to stimulating a supportive environment for the reception and continuation of women workers in this field.
She explained that these measures contribute to making the sector attractive and provide various pillars that contribute to the continuity of women’s work within it, in a way that improves national indicators to increase the percentage of women in the labor force.
The meeting was attended by Safaa Habib, Director General of the Protocol Department and Conference Organization, Project Manager, Shaimaa Naim, Director General of the General Department of Planning and Strategy at the Council, Sherwit Ibrahim, representative from the International Cooperation Department at the Council, and Fayrouz Naga, Project Coordinator.
It should be noted that the project “Supporting the Creation of a Safe Work Environment for Women in the Tourism Sector in the Arab Republic of Egypt” is being implemented by the National Council for Women in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development – Spanish Cooperation in Egypt. It aims to create a safe and supportive work environment for girls. In the field of tourism and hospitality to ensure non-discrimination and the opportunity to employ females without restrictions.
