Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met today, Wednesday, with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi.
“During the meeting, we discussed the importance of urgent access to deported Ukrainian citizens to Russia and protection of their rights, and the issue of mass criminal deportation of Ukrainian children was addressed separately,” the Ukrainian president wrote – on the “Telegram” application, according to the Ukrainian news agency (Ukinform).
He pointed out that there are different data on the number of children who were forcibly deported from Ukraine by Russia, adding that in general about two million Ukrainian citizens were deported, including many children.
The UN High Commissioner is visiting Ukraine for the third time since the beginning of the Russian military operation.
The President of Ukraine considers the visit an important political signal to support the entire Ukrainian society, the forcibly displaced persons and families who have lost their children due to deportation.
