Quota is reserved for backward people where it is mentioned in the constitution. The pet quotas kept in the universities are mainly for the children of university teachers and staff. But the question that these university teachers and officials are backward is not to be avoided.
But the quota system is British and Pakistani era. But it was on a limited scale at a higher level and in a limited form. Since independence, each government has successively expanded the scope of quotas for employment and university admissions. Due to which the talented were severely deprived. When the anti-quota movement was formed against this deprivation, the government was forced to reform the quota. But quota recruitment in many government jobs still remains.
37 thousand 574 candidates who passed the primary teacher recruitment 2020 examination recently are recommended for recruitment on 14 December 2022. 60 percent female quota, 20 percent pet quota, 20 percent male quota are applied in the recruitment of this exam where 20 percent science quota is kept on this quota. As such, 26 thousand 302 women and pets, 3 thousand 757 pets and 5 thousand 715 men were recruited. Due to the quota system, a large sector of government recruitment in Bangladesh is deprived of qualified people due to discrimination in the recruitment of assistant teachers.
