Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly appealed to Western allies for tanks to counter Russia in the ongoing war. After weeks of speculation, Germany and the United States have officially responded to Ukraine’s request. Germany has announced to give 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine. On the other hand, the United States has said that it will give 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz announced the delivery of Leopard-2 tanks to Ukraine on Wednesday local time. He announced this in the cabinet meeting in the morning. At that time, Olaf Shultz said, “This decision is an example of how we can help Ukraine to the maximum.”
