British police have arrested a man on suspicion of assaulting former UK health secretary Matt Hancock on the London Underground.
It was reported that Hancock was unharmed in the accident that occurred on Tuesday, which began at Westminster station before continuing to ride a subway train, according to the British news agency (BA Media).
“A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and a public order offense and remains in custody,” police said.
A spokesman for Hancock said: “Both TfL and TfP staff were fantastic and the man has since been arrested.”
“This kind of behavior is rare,” he added, stressing “the importance of stopping baseless misinformation that causes so much harm.”
It is noteworthy that Hancock, 44, was Minister of Health during the height of the Corona virus pandemic, and was a key figure in imposing closure restrictions and introducing vaccines in the aftermath.
