Today, Wednesday, the stations of the National Earthquake Network of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research recorded a 6-magnitude earthquake in the eastern Mediterranean, 502 km from the Egyptian coast and 54 km deep.
The institute said in a statement today that the earthquake was felt by a number of citizens within Greater Cairo.
The institute stressed that the earthquake did not result in any losses or injuries.
Separate monitoring bodies confirmed the earthquake. While residents of separate areas of Cairo, most notably Maadi and Al-Obour, said that they felt the earthquake.
Affected countries include: Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Libya and the United Kingdom.
