Ambassador Suha Gendy, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, accompanied by Faisal Al-Otaibi, Saudi Labor Attaché in Cairo, paid a visit to the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration, in the presence of Ambassador Mohamed Khairat, Assistant Minister of Immigration for International Cooperation, and Ambassador Amr Abbas, Assistant Minister of Immigration for Community Affairs. The Minister of Immigration, accompanied by the Saudi Labor Attache, conducted an inspection tour inside the center, and she was briefed on its departments and training halls and the specialties of all its members and listened to a full explanation of all the details. She also witnessed one of the ongoing exercises inside the center and spoke with the trainees.
Ambassador Suha Gendy extended her deep thanks to all the members of the Egyptian-German Center, and added that it plays an important role as an arm of the Ministry of Immigration, in organizing training courses for holders of certificates and workers for employment, within the framework of qualifying young people within the “Survival Boats” initiative in the governorates that export illegal immigration, and stressed on The Ministry of Immigration is keen to give all possible support to the center so that it can perform the tasks entrusted to it to the fullest.
The minister stressed that there is a paramount importance for the expansion of the center’s activities and its great promotion among the various Egyptian circles of different orientations, whether university graduates and holders of higher qualifications or owners of various professions and trades, so that the center will be a guide for them to immigrate to Germany and raise awareness of the dangers of illegal immigration, in addition to holding courses Training to qualify and prepare Egyptians who want to emigrate so that they can quickly adapt to these new societies.
Dr. Sahar Ali, Director of the Egyptian-German Center and Executive Officer of the “Migration for Development” project in Egypt, gave an explanation of the Center’s achievements since its establishment until December 2022, and the number of those who benefited from it, whether in the field of training courses, direct support or psychological support, and providing them With the necessary guidelines for immigration, as well as the halls that were opened in the 14 governorates that export the most illegal immigration.
The presentation included the broadcast of a film containing inspiring success stories for a number of those who benefited from the services provided by the center. Then, Yara Al-Quraiti and Nancy Hatem gave a brief presentation on the program “For a Comprehensive Approach to the Governance of Labor Migration and Labor Mobility in North Africa THAMM, which is funded Jointly by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), it aims to implement a mechanism for labor mobility to and from Germany through capacity building and qualifying participants to produce effective results that can be emulated in the implementation of similar programs that are applied on a large scale with other countries.
Andreas Adrian, coordinator of the technical education sector and the labor market at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), welcomed the visit of the minister, and expressed his happiness with the work of the center and its activity, which embodies a milestone in cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the field of reducing irregular migration and raising awareness of safe and regular migration paths. Especially in line with the requirements of the global labor markets.
During the meeting, Adrian explained that the center aims to provide comprehensive information on the German labor market. It also cooperates in providing opportunities for training and employment in Germany according to the needs of the market there, which requires training in necessary skills for applicants provided by the center through holding various training courses, as well as providing the necessary advice and advice, within the framework of encouraging everyone who wishes to emigrate to study the necessary procedures and take Safe ways and take advantage of the opportunities available in the country of immigration.
Faisal Al-Otaibi, the Saudi labor attache in Cairo, praised the outstanding performance of the center and the capabilities he sensed in it at the highest level that competes with counterparts from centers for training and employment in the world, expressing his happiness in cooperation with the Ministry of Immigration and its participation in programs and activities for developing the capabilities of Egyptian labor, which are among It would contribute to maximizing the number of Egyptian workers from various professions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Shahira Wassef, responsible for the immigration file at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), welcomed Minister Soha Gendi, and sincerely thanked the Ministry of Immigration for all the support provided, and said: “We emphasize strengthening the capabilities of those wishing to move between Egypt and Germany, by launching initiatives, creating coordination platforms, and establishing A mechanism for networking efforts and expertise with a view to sustainability, and we are working with the Ministry of Immigration as well as the Ministry of Education and Technical Education to support safe and regular migration, whether on a technical or developmental level, and to simplify and facilitate the procedures that take the immigrant’s hand on his journey.”
Ambassador Suha Gendy thanked Ambassador Muhammad Khairat, Assistant Minister of Immigration for International Cooperation, for all the efforts made to strengthen and upgrade the center, and awarded him the Shield of Excellence in honor and appreciation.
