A number of politicians, former ministers, and public figures were keen to offer condolences on the death of Engineer Hassan Rashdan, head of the Rashdan Architecture Group and a pioneer of Islamic architecture in Egypt and the Arab world, who passed away last Monday, and his body was buried from the Al Rashdan Mosque to his final resting place.
The funeral was attended by the son and grandson of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Urban Planning, officials of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, businessman Mansour Amer, and former ministers and representatives of the House of Representatives and the Senate, including: Minister Alaa Fahmy, former Minister of Transport, and Dr. Ahmed Zaki. Badr is the Minister of Education and the former Minister of Local Development, Osama Heikal, the former Egyptian Minister of State for Information, Jalal Al-Saeed, the former Minister of Transport, Representatives Muhammad Maher, Secretary General of the Cairo Future Home Party, Representative Ihab Al-Omda, Dr. Mustafa Al-Fiqi, artist Rashwan Tawfiq and others.
The engineer, Hassan Rashdan, who passed away last Monday, is considered the dean of the consultants specialized in building the houses of God, as the American Encyclopedia who is who chose him years ago as a member of its global encyclopedia as one of the distinguished in the field of architecture, especially the art of Islamic architecture, which distinguished him during the past 30 years. This is because he developed the art of building mosques in line with the modern era without prejudice to the foundations of Islamic architecture, in addition to the distinction that characterizes his residential projects in design and construction.
