General Valery Gerasimov said in an interview with Argumenti I Fact, a Moscow-based press, “The modern economic relations issues are not fully taken into account in the training system of new soldiers in our country at the army assembly. That’s why I had to fix these things.’
Keeping in mind the security threat against Russia, he said that the announcement of reforms in the military was made in mid-January.
General Valery Gerasimov also spoke about the main security threats. “These (security) threats currently include the desire to expand NATO to Finland and Sweden, as well as the threat of using Ukraine to launch an artificial war against our country,” he said.
Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership last year after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the two countries have not yet received membership.
