The Tunisian authorities announced the death of a man from setting himself on fire in front of the headquarters of the state of Nabeul, in northeastern Tunisia.
The deceased, a 41-year-old father of three, was assigned to work as a guard in the delegation of Nabeul, and he did so after being informed of his expulsion from work, as he suffers from difficult economic and social conditions.
Brigadier General Mourad Al-Mishri, the regional director of the Civil Protection in Nabeul, revealed that a team from the Civil Protection intervened to help a man who set himself on fire, in protest of his deteriorating social status.
Al-Mashri indicated that the injured man was transferred to Al-Taher Al-Mamouri Hospital in Nabeul to receive first aid, after suffering minor burns.
According to local media, the man was in front of the headquarters of the state of Nabeul, poured a liquid substance on his body and set himself on fire, before citizens and security men who were near him intervened to extinguish the fire that ravaged parts of his body, after which he was transferred to the hospital.
It authorized the public prosecution at the Court of First Instance in Nabeul to conduct the necessary research to uncover the circumstances and causes of the accident.
