Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church, received 48 metropolitans and bishops at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo this evening, along with Archbishop Sergius Sergius, the representative of the Patriarchate in Cairo, and Archpriest Seraphim Wadih, the representative of the Mansoura Archdiocese.
The attendees congratulated the Pope on his recovery from the health ailment he was exposed to during the Christmas Mass, noting that they were following up on his state of health, firsthand, and reassuring him.
For his part, the Pope reassured them that the matter was nothing more than a state of extreme exhaustion as a result of the accumulation of effort that he exerted throughout the month preceding the feast, stressing that the examinations had proven that there was no disease that required any therapeutic intervention of any kind, and that the attending physicians only recommended that he spend a period of time. suitable rest.
He pointed out that he spent the rest period between the papal headquarters in Cairo and his headquarters in the Karma House in King Mariout in Alexandria.
And about what happened at the Christmas Mass, the Pope indicated that he felt dizzy and forced him to sit during the sermon, but he insisted on waiting until the beginning of the Communion ritual, and then left.
He added: What preoccupied me most in these moments is that we are on the night of Eid and everyone is happy, and I was thinking a lot for fear that my “tiredness” would cause people to feel anxious on the day of Eid. So I made sure to meet my sons well-wishers on the morning of Eid and to speak on television, to reassure everyone, then I went to the hospital.”
He hinted that going to the hospital was only necessary to perform some analyzes and x-rays, stressing that he returned as soon as the results of the examinations appeared to the papal residence in Cairo.
The Pope commented: “The last situation alerted me to the need to scrutinize the distribution of effort, so that we can complete our work without delay, especially since I feel that the rest period that I got had good results, which is what I advise everyone to do by ensuring that their efforts are distributed.”
The parents present expressed their happiness at the Pope’s return to his activity, while he is in perfect health, wishing him continued health and wellness.
It is expected that the Pope will receive in the coming days a number of other priests of the Church, at their request, who were unable to come to check on his congratulations.
